User Reviews

  • When I installed Reg under my XP 32 bit system and started it for the first time I received this error message: . 'FindChild failed in ExpandToBranch. This is a symptom that Reg has lost synchronization with the Registry./ Please restart the program. NT based versions of Windows implement registry security. If you are running one of these systems , please ensure that you are an administrator or have the necessary permission to avoid data loss'. . I restarted the program again and I received the same message which I had to close before it Reg could open, even though I was logged in as a user in the Administrator group. I decided not to risk damaging my registry by editing it with such an obviously inept application, so I uninstalled it. This application has not been updated since 2007, so I suppose the author lost interest in it even though it needed bug fixes. Another complete waste of time from Sourceforge.
  • While it may not support Unicode, since it is *not* an installer the issue the previous review was complaining about - writing to its folder - should not be an issue; there is no requirement for it to be in Program Files. What's more, since the settings are in its application folder, it becomes ideal for "portable" (USB drive) use.
  • Does not support Unicode. Writes its application settings to its installation folder, making it unsuitable for non-admin users and incompatible with Windows Vista, Server 2008 and Windows 7. In my computer, it starts with the following error message: FindChild failed in ExpandToBranch. This is a symptom that Reg has lost synchronization with the Registry. Please restart the program.
